Caitlin Amodeo is an Ottawa born dance artist, educator and administrator. Dancing from the day she could walk, Caitlin developed her love of working with children as an adolescent dance instructor. Throughout her extensive training, she had the honour of studying a wide variety of dance forms under numerous world-renowned teachers. After completion of her RAD Vocational Examinations with Honours, as well as completing her ADAPT Advanced Tap and Jazz examinations with Honours, Caitlin received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Ryerson University’s School of Performance. Shortly after graduation in 2011, Caitlin was invited by Artistic Director Lauren Cook to train with Alias Dance Project, joining the company later that year. Caitlin has worked as a dance artist with many notable choreographers, including: David Earle, Heidi Strauss, Kenny Pearl, Darryl Tracy, Roberto Campanella, Robert Glumbeck, Sharon Moore, Ryan Lee, Troy Feldman, Lauren Cook, Allen Kaeja, Ofilio Portillo, Emmanuelle Le Phan, Valerie Calam, Apolonia Velasquez, Hanna Kiel, Emmanuel Jouthe, Kate Nankervis, Mate Meszaros, and Roberto Olivian, among others.
Caitlin has been performing professionally with Alias Dance Project since 2011, where she became an Assistant Director in 2012. Some recent performances include: Me, You + Us by Hanna Kiel; Overlook/ Outlook by Lauren Cook and Troy Feldman; and a site-specific duet by Hanna Kiel, as a part of Alias Animates Todmorden Mills.
Caitlin is a dance educator, fitness instructor, personal trainer, and the manager of The Cornerstone Studio. Teaching at numerous schools across Ontario, she has been an Artist in Residence through TDSB Creates, working in the classroom with students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8. In 2012, she was appointed Assistant Director/ Rehearsal Director of Pivotal Motion Dance Theatre, Alias Dance Project’s contemporary youth company. Caitlin is Kaeja Elevations® (KE) certified. She has been a guest presenter at the 2015 CODE Conference, the PULSE Ontario Dance Conference, as well as Rehearsal Director for Ryerson University’s School of Performance Summer Intensive Program; Kaeja d’Dance’s Porchview Dances; and for Alias Dance Project. Caitlin has been Assistant Director of Alias Dance Project’s International Summer Dance Intensive festivals since its inception in 2015, helping facilitate a 2 week program of exceptional professional dance workshops and creations, led by acclaimed international artists.
